Please Note: The concealed handgun license class is not designed to teach the student how to handle and/or qualify with a handgun. If you have never handled a firearm prior to taking our CHL Class, I strongly recommend taking our Beginner Firearms Training class in preparation for your CHL Class. On the registration form below, check the private CHL Preparation class.

Upon submitting your registration form, you will be directed to our payment options. Your registration is not complete and your seating guranteed until you submit your payment.
Process for obtaining your Concealed Handgun License

Fill out the DPS online state application. You will be required to pay DPS a fee for your background investigation. Once you have completed the online application and before logging out, be sure to print out the checklist with the large barcode on top. This is one of the forms you will send in to DPS once you have completed the entire process.

Register and complete your fingerprinting with Morpho Trust Services – Only after you have completed the online application. If you chose to fill out the hard copy downloadable forms you will need to wait until DPS mails you a letter instructing you to proceed with this step.
- Register for a CHL class with a certified DPS CHL Instructor. To register for our class, go to this link. CHL Class Registration.
- During the class, we will try to answer any other questions you may have about the remainder of the process prior to obtaining your CHL.
- You will be required to Qualify with a Handgun
- Range fee of $22 is included in all CHL Classes effective April 21, 2013.
Concealed Handgun License (CHL) Course Summary
Our Houston concealed handgun license training class satisfies all State of Texas requirements including
- Concealed Handgun Carrying Law
- Where you can and cannot carry a concealed handgun (places prohibited under Chapter 46 of the Texas Penal Code)
- Situations in which you can use force or deadly force (under Chapter 9 of the Texas Penal Code)
- Legal implications of the use of force or deadly force
- Texas weapons laws (including Chapter 46 of the Texas Penal Code)
- Non-Violent Dispute Resolution
- Firearms Safety taught by a DPS Certified Concealed Handgun Instructor
At CHL Firearms, we appreciate how valuable your time is. So, we strive to make the most of our 1 day (9.5 hour classroom plus .5 hour range qualification) Houston CHL training course to make our Houston concealed handgun course both informative and interesting. We provide affordable, top rated customer service and satisfaction for all your handgun training needs. Keep in mind that travel time to and from the range is not considered class teaching time so plan for a 11.5 hour day for your CHL course.
Our Saturday one day class starts at 8am and ends at approximately 7:30pm. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early to get situated.
Private classes are also available for groups of 3-5, and groups of 6+. We can teach the class in the convenience of your own home or your place of employment. We offer discounts for private classes. (See Course Pricing)
Effective April 21, 2013, the range fee has been included in the enrollment fee for all classes.

Classroom Location
The location of our CHL classroom is at the luxurious Hyatt Place hotel located at 16730 Creekbend Drive. From Hwy 6 and Hwy 59, travel northwest on Hwy 6 and turn right on Fluor Daniel Drive. When you come to the stop sign at Creekbend Drive, turn right and this road will lead you all the way into the parking lot of the hotel. To get to the meeting room, you will turn left on the hallway before the elevators. The classroom is on the right side of the hallway across from the restrooms.
